About OPSC Drugs Inspector Exam

Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) recently released an Official Notification for the Post Of Drugs Inspector (47 Posts) 2022 Application Form exam can be filled till 14th October 2022. Apply Online for This Exam and the Admit Card is Released soon. Eligibility Criteria for this exam is that the candidate must be a citizen of India. The candidate's age should be at least 18 years and maximum 38 years.

OPSC Drugs Inspector Eligibility

Age Limit (As on 01.01.2022)

The minimum age of the candidate to be eligible for applying for the OPSC Drug Inspector job profile is 21 years and the maximum age is 38 years. But the age relaxation is provided to different categories. The candidates can refer to the table given below for the upper age limit relaxation:

Educational Qualification 

The OPSC Public Service Commission has prescribed the education qualification to appear for the OPSC Drug Inspector Recruitment Examination as mentioned in detail below:

  1. A candidate must possess a degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Science or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) or Doctor of Medicine with specialisation in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a recognized university established in India by Law.
  2. Additional weightage shall be given to candidates having higher qualification and experience as detailed below

(a) Candidates possessing higher qualification will be given total 04(four) marks as weightage limited to only one higher qualification For this purpose, higher qualification.will mean:

Post Graduate Degree in Pharmacy/ Pharmaceutical Sciences (M. Pharm) or, Postgraduate Degree in Medicine (M.D) with specialisation in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology or, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Pharm D.

iii. Weightage of 02 (two) extra marks shall be given to the candidates for each completed year of work experience in manufacturing/ Quality Control Quality Assurance in any Allopathic drug Homoeopathic drug Cosmetic or Medical Devices manufacturing unit or Government Drug Testing Laboratory or any Drug/Cosmetic/Medical Devices Testing Laboratory Licensed under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act and Rules there under.

*NOTE: Weightage due to work experience will be for a maximum period of three years (i.e maximum 06(six) marks).

All certificates or testimonials or working experience certificates submitted by the candidates shall be verified by the Drugs Controller at the time of joining into service.

Nationality 

The OPSC Public Service Commission only recruits candidates who have Indian Citizenship and mainly the recruited candidates are the domicile of Odisha. Moreover, the candidates should have a good command of the Odia, Hindi, and English languages.

OPSC Drugs Inspector Exam Pattern

The candidate must know the OPSC Drug Inspector exam pattern to ace the Recruitment Examination. The exam pattern for all the stages of the recruitment process is discussed below in detail:

Stage- 1 Written Examination
  • A total number of 200 objective type MCQ pattern questions are asked.
  • The exam will be held for 200 marks.
  • The duration of the examination is 3 hours.
  • Each question carries 1 mark.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer.

Stage-2 Interview

Candidates who qualify the written exam will be invited to an interview round of the OPSC Drug Inspector Examination. The number of candidates to be called for the Personality Test/ Interview belonging to each category shall not exceed twice the total number of vacancies to be filled up in different services.

  • A total of 20 marks will be awarded for this interview. 
  • The final result will be determined by the marks obtained collectively in the Written exam as well as in the Interview.

Document Verification

The candidate who has their name on the merit list will be called for the Document Verification Round. The candidate must keep all the necessary documents ready which will be needed in the Document Verification Round of the OPSC Drug Inspector Recruitment.
