Indian Institutes of Management are institutes for studying management and do research under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Education, Government of India. In the year 2017 IIMs were declared institutions of national importance by the Ministry of Human Resource Development after the passing of Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017. By this act, IIMs were given more autonomy in handling their day-to-day operations. Admissions in the regular courses in IIMs take place through CAT(Common Admissions Test) an exam for IIMs and other B-Schools. Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP): This is a flagship program offered by IIMs and is equivalent to an MBA. It is a two-year full-time residential program that provides comprehensive management education.
Executive Post Graduate Program (EPGP): This program is designed for working professionals with substantial work experience. It is a one-year full-time residential program that enhances the managerial skills and knowledge of experienced professionals.

The fee structure for IIMs varies for different programs and categories. The fees for the PGP program for Indian students can range from approximately INR 15-25 lakhs for the entire course. The fees for the EPGP program can range from approximately INR 20-30 lakhs. The fees for the FPM program are generally lower as it is a research-based program.
Admissions to the PGP program of IIMs are primarily based on the Common Admission Test (CAT), which is a national-level entrance exam. Shortlisted candidates are then called for Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Admissions to the EPGP program are based on the candidate's profile, work experience, and performance in the selection process conducted by IIMs. Admissions to the FPM program are based on the candidate's academic qualifications, research proposal, and performance in interviews conducted by IIMs.
