About AFCAT Exam

AFCAT 2 Exam Date 2023 Out : Air Force Common Admission Test commonly known as AFCAT is an entrance examination conducted by Indian Air Force to select eligible and desirable candidates for multiple posts in Flying and Ground Duty [Technical and Non-Technical]. Serving in such a commendable and respected field is an honour in itself. Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced the complete details for 276 vacant posts at the flying branch and ground duties for both technical and non-technical posts through AFCAT 2 Notification 2023. AFCAT Exam Date

Indian Air Force has announced AFCAT 2 2023 Exam Dates along with its AFCAT 2 2023 Notification. The online registration process has been successfully completed at www.afcat.cdac.in. AFCAT 2 Exam is going to be held from 25th to 27th August 2023. The important dates related to the Indian Air Force AFCAT 2 2023 exam for the course commencing in July 2024 are tabulated below:

AFCAT Eligibility

Nationality

The candidate must hold the citizenship of India as per the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955. 
 

Age Limit

Age Limit differs according to the branch:

  • For Flying Branch: The age of the candidates should be between 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2023 i.e. born between 02nd July 1999 and 01st July 2003 (both dates inclusive).
  • For Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical Branch): 20-26 years as of 01st January 2023. They should be born between 02nd January 1997 and 01st January 2003.

Marital Status
  • Candidates must be unmarried.
  • Widow/Widowers and Divorcees below 25 years of age are not eligible.
  • Married candidates over the age of 25 are eligible to apply, but they will not be provided with married housing or allowed to live with family during their training period.

AFCAT Admit Card

The admit card for AFCAT 2 2022 will be available in August. To access the AFCAT admit card, registered candidates must log in using their email address, password, and captcha code. The admit card in hard copy is not mailed to candidates. The following steps need to be followed for downloading the admit card:

  • Go to the official website www.afcat.cdac.in, and there on the homepage you will find the link of AFCAT 2 admit card 2022.
  • Click on the link and the login page will appear, put your login credential there.
  • Click on Submit.
  • A new page will arise, giving the AFCAT admit card 2022.
  • Save and Download the admit card.

AFCAT Salary

1. Cadets in the final year of training will be given a stipend of Rs. 56,100.

2. After successful completion of training, level 10 in the Pay Matrix of the seventh Central Pay Commission will be allotted to the young Air Officers [56100-1,10,700]

3. Military Service Pay- 15,500 will also be included.


Additional Allowances

1. Flying Branch- Rs 11250 per month.

2. Technical Branch Officers: Rs 2500 per month.

In Addition to these officers are also entitled to other allowances such as TA, DA, Children Education Allowance, Ration Money Allowance etc.

AFCAT Selection

Indian Air Force will send call letters to all the candidates who clear the AFCAT 2023 to appear for the second stage of selection i.e AFSB Testing.

AFSB Testing Stage 1

It includes the following two tests:

  1. Officer Intelligence Rating Test.
  2. Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP&DT)

Stage 1 is called the screening test and candidates who do not clear it will be rejected and will not be called for AFSB Testing Stage 2.
 

AFSB Testing Stage 2

All Stage 1 qualified candidates will have to appear for AFSB Stage 2 and undergo the following tests:

Psychological Tests: These are written psychological tests and are conducted by professional psychologists.

Group Tests: These tests involve mental and physical activities to examine the candidates’ on various mental and physical parameters.

AFSB Interview: In this round, the interviewing officer takes a personal round of interviews for the candidate.

Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) Test: This test is mandatory for only those candidates who have applied for the Flying Branch.
 

Medical Examination

Recommended candidates will be called for the medical examination. The Indian Airforce has prescribed only two centres for Medical Examination which are the Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru and Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME). After the medical examination, a final merit list would be prepared on the basis of the marks scored by the candidate in written and AFSB interviews. All the shortlisted candidates would be given the joining letter of the respective training academies they have applied to.


AFCAT Syllabus

The AFCAT exam includes four sections, and the EKT (for ground duty technical branch only) includes mechanical, computer science, and electrical and electronics.

Subjects Syllabus
English  There will be questions from comprehension, cloze test, synonym and antonym, idioms and phrases, and error spotting. This section is consist of at least 20 questions.
General Awareness There will be questions from history, geography, biology, chemistry, political science, current affairs, defense-related questions, general science, and others.
Reasoning and Military Aptitude This subject will comprise questions from Series, Venn Diagrams, Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning, spatial ability, Syllogism, Blood Relations, etc.
Numerical Ability This subject can ask questions about Time and Work, Profit and Loss, Average, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Speed Distance and Time, Simple Interest and Compound Interest, HCF and LCM, etc.
EKT It is for the candidates applying for the Ground duty Technical Branch, there will be questions from Fundamental, Specialized, and Allied Engineering Topics in all three sections of the Exam.

AFCAT Exam 

Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions

Time Duration: 2 hrs

No. of questions: 100

Max marks: 300

Subjects: Verbal ability, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, General Awareness and Military Aptitude.

There is a negative marking of 1/3rd mark in all sections.

Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) would be for 45 minutes and conducted immediately after AFCAT.

Max marks: 150

Note: Candidates who are opting for Ground Duty (technical) branch have to pass both AFCAT & EKT.


AFCAT Qualification

Flying Branch:

It is mandatory to opt for Maths and Physics in 12th Std. and obtain a minimum of 50% marks each in both of them and Graduation with a minimum three years degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or a 4-year BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks from a recognized university or the Candidates who have passed Sections A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with minimum 60% marks from a recognized university.
 

Ground Duty (Technical Branch):
  1. Candidates having the degree of Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) AE (L) and have obtained 50% marks each in Physics and Maths in their 12th STD. And have completed a minimum of four years degree graduation/Integrated Post graduation in Engineering/Technology from a recognized university.
  2. Passed Sections A and B  by Actual Studies of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers with 60 percent in the relevant disciplines notified by the examination authority.
  3. Candidates having the degree of Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) AE (M) and have attained 50% marks each in Physics and Maths in 10+2 Level and a four years degree graduation/Integrated Post graduation in Engineering/Technology from a recognized university.
  4. Cleared Sections A & B examination by actual studies of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a minimum of 60% marks in the relevant disciplines notified by IAF authority.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical Branch)

Administration and Logistics: Passed in 12th STD and have completed graduation with a minimum 3 years degree course in any discipline from a recognized university and have attained a minimum of 60% marks.

Education Department: Completed MBA/MCA or MA/MSc in English/Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Statistics/International Relations/International Studies/Psychology/Defence Studies/IT/Management/Journalism/Computer Science/Mass Communication with a minimum 50% marks in their degree.

Accounts: B.Com Graduate with minimum 60% marks.

*The candidates need to be physically and mentally fit.


AFCAT How to Apply

AFCAT 2 2022 Application for AFCAT-2 Exam will begin on 01st June 2022 at 11 am and ends on 30th June 2022 at 5 pm on the official websites https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in OR https://afcat.cdac.in.

Steps to Apply for AFCAT 2 2022

Step 1- Registration Process

  1. Click on the link provided below or visit the official website.
  2. A new page will appear. New Users will have to register first.
  3. Click on New User Register
  4. A new page will appear to enter your mobile no. and email to register yourself.
  5. An OTP will be sent on your mobile no. and email, fill and click on “Submit”.
  6. A Login Id and Password will be sent to your registered mobile no. and email id.
 

Step 2- Login

  1. Login using the Registration Number and Password. Select the post.
  2. Fill up other details such as educational qualifications etc. depending upon the educational qualification of the candidate.
  3. Pay examination fee as applicable, online using Credit/Debit Card or Internet Banking
  4. Candidates are required to upload their scanned colour photograph and Signature (in English or in Hindi) in JPEG format.
  5. Login with Registration Number and Password in the link for “UPLOAD” and thereafter, upload the file/scanned filled
  6. Upload all the required certificates
  7. Submit the application. Print out the acknowledgement for records.

Application Fee

Candidates registering for AFCAT entry will have to pay an amount of Rs. 250/- as examination fee.
