RAS Eligibility

The basic eligibility criteria for the RPSC RAS exam include:

  • Candidates should obtain a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
  • Candidates should be minimum of 21 years and a maximum of 40 years as of January 1, 2022. For non-gazetted employees, the minimum age limit is 25 years and the maximum age limit is 45 years as on January 1, 2022

RAS Admit Card

Admit Card–Prelims exam

RPSC issues the RAS admit card for each stage of the RAS exam. The RAS exam is conducted in three stages and hence for each stage, a separate admit card is issued. RAS prelims admit card is issued online, ten days before the exam date. The RAS admit card tells about the exam centres and the district centre.

Admit Card - Main exam

The RAS admit card for the main exam is issued fifteen days before the exam. The RAS main admit card is issued to the candidates who had qualified the RAS prelims exam. The RAS main exam admit card is issued online only and it should be kept till the last stage of the RPSC RAS exam. It is checked at the time of the RPSC interview also.

RAS Selection

The RPSC RAS selection process includes the following three stages:

  • Preliminary exam: This is an objective-type screening test of 200 marks. Candidates need to complete the paper in three hours duration. This test can be conducted in either offline or online mode as the prevailing conditions permit.
  • Main exam: This is a descriptive-type analytical-type written test. The test contains four papers of 200 marks each. The time allowed to complete each paper is three hours.
  • Personality/ viva-voce exam: Candidates who qualify in the RAS Main exam, need to appear for a personality test/ interview. The weightage for the personality test is 100 marks.

RAS Exam Pattern

The RPSC RAS Pre exam is a screening test that contains objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) of 200 marks. A screening test basically means that marks obtained by candidates in the preliminary exam are not counted at the time of preparation of the final RPSC RAS exam merit list. The preliminary exam is the first filter of the RPSC RAS Exam.
The standard of questions asked in the RAS Pre exam is of graduation level. Subjects from which questions are asked in the paper are General Knowledge and General Science.

Main Exam Pattern 

The Main exam of RPSC RAS consists of a total of four papers of 200 marks each. It is mandatory for candidates to appear for all four papers. Each paper contains descriptive/ analytical (brief, medium, long answer and descriptive type questions) questions. Candidates need to complete each paper in a time duration of three hours.
