In order to take the PTE Academic test, the candidate must be at least 16 years old. Candidates below 18 years of age need to get a parental consent form signed by either parents or guardians before taking the test. The Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) assesses the Speaking & Writing, Reading and Listening skills, skills of the candidates to ensure that they are capable of studying in the international environment, with a good grasp of the universal language of English. By scoring well on this test, students can assure the admission committee as well as the visa officers that they are capable of understanding the globally accepted official language while studying in a foreign land.

A good score on the test also ensures that candidates would be able to represent their ideas, deliver presentations, work to gain international exposure, and basically function on the international front in front of foreign audiences. PTE Exam Syllabus: Speaking & Writing Section: 54 - 67 minutes

Syllabus of PTE Speaking and Writing Section: As the name implies, this section tests the candidates on the basis of their two major skills of communication, which are spoken and written skills. The Speaking & Writing of the PTE section is approximately 54 – 67 minutes long in the PTE exam and the section contains seven different question types. The Speaking & Writing section is the longest section of the PTE test. The candidate will be tested on their speaking and writing skills, using English they might hear in an academic environment.

This section comprises seven small sections that test you on your promptness over speaking and writing the written test that you would get to read for the first time ever. The complete section is given on a time duration of 54 to 67 minutes and the time allotted to each segment is as follows:

The PTE test goes this way:

  1. Question: Time to Reading the Text Prompt: The time duration of each prompt you get varies depending on the length of the text. The length is measurable in words or sentences. You need to be active in this part.
  2. Prepare for Answer: Time granted to Relax and Think: You do not have to immediately answer the question. On average, you get 10 to 15 seconds to prepare for each segment. You should relax and think for a while about how to answer.
  3. Answer: Time for Action: This is the total time duration where you have to perform. The answers are recorded when you speak, saved as text when you write, and selected in options multiple-choice questions. 

PTE How to Apply

Candidates wishing to register for the PTE exam 2023 must follow the steps outlined below to book their PTE exam slot successfully. Candidates need to keep in mind that in order to schedule their PTE Academic online exam, they will need a valid ID, specifically a valid Indian passport. On the day of the PTE exam, candidates are also required to present a valid ID; if they fail to do so, they will not be permitted entry into the PTE Test Center.

Steps to register for PTE Academic online
  • Visit the official website of PTE Academic.
  • Create your Pearson account by entering your personal information.
  • After you have successfully completed the PTE registration process, Pearson will send you an email containing your login information within the next 48 hours.
  • The next step is to look for a PTE test centre near you.
    • At this stage, candidates can also take the PTE at Home test.
  • Also, choose a suitable time and PTE date to take the PTE exam.
  • After entering your information, such as time, date, and PTE slot, you will be directed to the checkout button.
  • After that, you will need to pay the PTE Exam Fee, which is currently 14,700 Indian rupees, in order to finish registering for the PTE exam.

PTE Phone Registration: Besides the popular online registration method, candidates can also register for the PTE exam by phone. To register for the PTE Exam, Indian students should call the PTE Academic testing body at 00080 0440 2020. (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.)
 

PTE Exam Fee

The standard fee for the PTE Academic exam is Rs 14,700. If a candidate books his PTE (The Pearson Test of English) exam within 48 hours of the PTE (The Pearson Test of English) test date, the candidate must pay a PTE Late Booking Fee.
