About SSC MTS Exam

SSC MTS 2023 Exam Date Out : SSC MTS exam is a national-level exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for selecting candidates in General Central Service Group-C non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various ministries, departments and offices of the Govt of India. The candidates shortlisted for multi-tasking staff posts are salaried with Pay Level-1 as per Pay Matrix of 7th Pay Commission with basic pay of Rs. 5,200-20,200 + Grade Pay Rs.1,800. SSC is going to conduct SSC Multi Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff, and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Examination, 2023 providing job opportunities for 10th pass candidates. As per the SSC Calendar 2023, SSC MTS 2023 Computer Based Test is to be held from 01st to 14th September 2023 in multiple shifts.

SSC MTS Eligibility

There are three major criteria that a candidate is required to fulfill in order to be eligible for SSC MTS 2023 Exam. Before filling the applications for SSC MTS Exam, the candidates must know the minimum required Eligibility Criteria in terms of nationality, education qualification, and age limit. Let’s have a look at all these three criteria:
 

SSC MTS Citizenship

A candidate is required to be

  1. A citizen of India
  2. Subject of Nepal
  3. Subject of Bhutan
  4. Tibetan Refugee
  5. Person of Indian Origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Afghanistan, Kenya, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam.

SSC MTS Age Limit (as on 01/08/2023)

The age limits for the posts as per the Recruitment Rules of various User Departments are:

i) A candidate must be of minimum 18 years of age and must not exceed 25 years of age, candidates born not before 02-01-1999 and not later than 01-01-2006.

ii) 18-27 years, candidates born not before 02.08.1998 and not later than 01.08.2005.

Apart from the pre-mentioned Age Requirement, candidates belonging to reserved categories are given age relaxation as per Government Rules.
 

Havaldar Age Limit

A candidate must be of a minimum of 18 years of age and must not exceed 27 years of age, candidates born not before 02.08.1996 and not later than 01.08.2005 are eligible to apply for Havaldar in CBIC and CBN, Department of Revenue.

​SSC MTS Educational Qualification (as on 01/08/2023)

A candidate is required to pass Matriculation (10th class) or its equivalent Exam from a recognized State Board, University or Institute to be eligible to apply for SSC MTS 2023 Exam. 


SSC MTS Admit Card

The SSC MTS admit card for Tier 1 exam has been rolled out. Candidates who has completed the registration process can download the admit card for the SSC MTS 2022. Admit card is an important document without which candidates will not be allowed to appear in the examination. SSC MTS Admit Card contains all the details which are required from the candidates on the exam day, like -

  • Candidate's name and roll number
  • Photograph
  • Date of birth
  • Signature
  • Exam centre address
  • Reporting time at the centre
  • Exam day guidelines

SSC MTS Salary

Candidates who will qualify all the stages of SSC MTS will be paid according to the 7th pay commission and their SSC MTS salary in hand will be between Rs 16,000 to Rs 22,000 per month with a pay band of (Rs.5200 – 20200) depending on their posting. Other than this, the job post is supported by several other salary perks.

SSC MTS Selection

Candidates must have a fair understanding of the selection process of the SSC MTS exam. SSC MTS selection process consists of CBT, Physical Efficiency Test/Physical Standard Test (PET/PST), and Descriptive exam. Candidates need to qualify both the papers to be considered for the Multitasking post and all three stages, including PET for the Havaldar post. While for Tier-1, the cutoff is released by the authorities along with the declaration of the result and for Tier-2 candidates need to score minimum marks to proceed further in SSC MTS 2022 recruitment. However, the final selection is done based on the marks scored in the Tier 1 exam.


SSC MTS Syllabus

SSC MTS 2022 Syllabus for Computer Based Examination (Paper-I):
Subjects Syllabus
English Language In this section, candidates' understanding of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. and writing ability shall be tested.
General Intelligence and Reasoning   It would include questions of non-verbal type. The test will include questions on similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
Numerical Aptitude This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.
General Awareness Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

SSC MTS Exam Pattern

The examination of SSC MTS 2023 will be conducted in 2 different levels: Paper-1, PET/PST (only for havaldar). Paper-1 is an online exam that is objective multiple choice question type. 

SSC MTS 2023 Paper-1 Exam Pattern 

The revised SSC MTS Paper-I Exam Pattern has been released along with SSC MTS Notification 2023. There will be Computer-Based Examination which is divided in 2 Sessions. Session-I and Session-II and both the Sessions will be mandatory to be attempted. There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Session 2 and there will be no negative marking in Session-1.

SSC MTS Cut off

SSC MTS Cut-off is the minimum score that aspirants taking the exam will have to obtain in order to move to the next stage of the exam. The cutoff will be released twice, first for Paper 1 (Tier-1) and second for Paper 2(Tier-2). Cutoffs are released along with the result declaration.

The steps to apply for the SSC MTS exam are provided below:

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of SSC i.e., http://ssc.nic.in once the commission publishes the date of the online application.
  • Step 2: Under the important announcements, click the SSC MTS 2022 link.
  • Step 3: Click on new registration and complete the registration process.
  • Step 4: Candidates will receive the registration number and password on your mail-id.
  • Step 5: Log in using your credential and click on apply now.
  • Step 6: Complete the application form by filling in personal details like the candidate’s name, father’s name, date of birth along with educational qualification details.
  • Step 7: Next upload scanned passport size photograph and signature in JPG format in prescribed dimension and size to avoid rejection of the application.
